The Spiritual Battle and Modern Deception: Standing Firm in the Last Days

Based from Bible Mysteries Podcast Episode 258 The Spiritual Battle Part 2: Modern Deception, Transhumanism & End-Time Warfare

Understanding the Spiritual Battle

The spiritual battle that rages today is not fought with flesh and blood but with unseen powers that oppose the truth of God. As the Apostle Paul reminds us, “we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world” (Ephesians 6:12). The growing deception we witness in technology, politics, and religion is not random. It is part of a long-standing war to corrupt humanity’s divine image and sever our connection to the Creator.

In Episode 258 of Bible Mysteries Podcast, I joined brothers Peter Ohlinger and Rodney Smith—hosts of The Days of Noah and The Millennial Mustard Seed podcasts—to address how this ancient conflict now manifests in modern forms of deception.

The Spiritual Agenda Behind Technology

Humanity’s pursuit of knowledge has always carried a spiritual consequence. When technology begins to mirror creation itself—altering DNA, merging flesh with machines, or forming artificial intelligence in our own likeness—it edges toward the sin of Genesis 6, when fallen angels corrupted mankind’s seed. This is not merely science; it is rebellion disguised as progress.

The modern spiritual battle includes the rise of transhumanism and genetic engineering. These are not neutral discoveries. They challenge the very boundaries God established when He said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness” (Genesis 1:26). The adversary seeks to erase that image by promoting a version of humanity remade in his own design—void of the Spirit of God.

The Mark and Genetic Corruption

Revelation warns of a mark connected to commerce and allegiance to the Beast (Revelation 13:16–17). Many speculate this mark could involve more than a symbol—it may represent a literal alteration of the body. If the human genome is changed, could it render one no longer redeemable? The enemy’s goal is not just control but transformation, replacing what God created with something he owns.

This is the same pattern we saw “in the days of Noah.” Jesus Himself said, “As it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man” (Luke 17:26). Corruption of the flesh was the hallmark of that time, and it is returning again through technology.

The Rising Tide of Demonic Activity

During Christ’s earthly ministry, demonic manifestations were rampant. The Lord’s presence forced them into the open. As His second coming draws near, we see a resurgence of that same activity. Occult symbolism, spiritual blindness, and moral decay are increasing everywhere. These are not coincidences—they are signs.

The spiritual battle intensifies as darkness senses its time is short. Satan’s kingdom uses media, education, and technology to condition hearts against truth. Families are fractured, faith is mocked, and deception masquerades as enlightenment. Yet Christ warned, “Take heed that no man deceive you” (Matthew 24:4).

The False Promise of Transhumanism

The enemy’s oldest lie remains the same: “Ye shall be as gods.” Today, transhumanism offers immortality through machines and genetic perfection through science. These false promises mirror Satan’s temptation of Christ, when he offered power in exchange for worship. Every promise of man’s advancement apart from God leads only to spiritual death.

Technology itself is not evil, but when guided by rebellious spirits, it becomes a weapon against truth. The faithful must discern between what benefits mankind and what leads to bondage.

Hope and Endurance in Christ

Despite the darkness surrounding us, the victory has already been won through Jesus Christ. No artificial intelligence, genetic tampering, or political system can separate the believer from the love of God (Romans 8:38–39). The Holy Spirit remains the seal that cannot be overwritten by human hands.

Our response to this spiritual battle must be vigilance, prayer, and unwavering trust in the Word. As Paul wrote, “Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day” (Ephesians 6:13). Truth, righteousness, faith, and salvation remain our defense against deception.

A Call to Stand Firm

We live in prophetic times. What was hidden is now revealed: demonic deception cloaked in technology, truth replaced by convenience, and faith exchanged for worldly wisdom. Yet God is still calling His people to stand firm.

The command remains unchanged: “Be ye holy; for I am holy” (1 Peter 1:16). No innovation, ideology, or genetic alteration can outshine the light of Christ. Every believer must hold fast to His covenant, contend for the faith, and pray for those still blinded by darkness.

The spiritual battle is fierce, but victory belongs to those who remain steadfast in Christ Jesus.
