Based on Bible Mysteries Podcast Episode 243: The Mystery of the Curse Part II: End-Time Prophecies, Israel’s Role and the Path to Redemption
The Bible teaches that a curse—either already active or soon to be pronounced—

rests upon the earth as part of God’s righteous judgment. In this episode of Bible Mysteries Podcast, we explore the origins of this curse, its impact on nations and individuals, and the promise of its removal through Jesus Christ.
The Origin of the Biblical Curse
From the moment humanity rebelled in the Garden of Eden, the curse entered creation. This judgment extends not only to individuals but to entire nations and the earth itself. As Scripture reveals:
“For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off.” (Psalm 37:22)
“Cursed are thou which do err from thy commandments.” (Psalm 119:21)
The Curse on the Nations and Israel
Throughout history, Israel’s disobedience resulted in divine curses (Daniel 9:11-13; Malachi 2:1-2). These judgments serve as warnings and patterns for all nations that turn from God.
“And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall avenge the quarrel of my covenant.” (Leviticus 26:25)
“And I will curse them that curse thee.” (Genesis 12:3)
End-Time Curses and the Final Judgment
The curse will reach its climax in the events foretold in Revelation, where divine seals are opened, unleashing deception, war, famine, and death upon a rebellious world (Revelation 6:1-11). The rejection of Christ and His prophets has set the stage for these judgments (Matthew 11:12-15; Malachi 4:5-6).
“And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals...” (Revelation 6:1)
“Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.” (Malachi 4:5)
The Hope of Redemption
Even amid judgment, God offers redemption through faith in Jesus Christ, who bore the curse on our behalf. The final lifting of the curse awaits the creation of a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells (Revelation 22:1-4).
